Laura Smith has written news, features and comment for newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Independent, The Observer, Marie Claire, Information World Review and Catalyst. She started her career as a trainee news reporter at the Nottingham Evening Post and was a staff reporter at the London Evening Standard and a news and business reporter at The Guardian. She started freelancing full-time in 2006, and mainly writes features on social affairs.
